Blog Tip: Don't Define Terms

image from www.merriam-webster.com Here's a blogging tip that will keep you from driving your readers insane.

PLEASE do not define terms in a blog post with Merriam Webster definitions.

I got a post today that defined Attention. Merriam Webster is a definitive resource, however, that definition put the blog post in the trash.

Why?

Because I have a worldview and I know it well. I don't care what the dictionary says, I'm going with MY worldview instead, every time.

I'll bet you're the same way, even if you don't realize it consciously.

So instead of dictionary definitions, show me you know me by speaking TO me and not AT me.

Outline my problem. Tell me how to solve it. Show me you understand my pain. Tell me how to end it, quickly.

I'll appreciate your advice and so will many other people reading your post.

Power of Passion in Business

image from drdilip.com Today I am very pleased to share the Power of Passion in Business interview I did recently with author, communications trainer and thought leader and past President of Toastmasters, Dr. Dilip Abayasekara.

Dr. Dilip is the author of The Path of the Genie: Your Journey to Your Heart's Desire. He has trained and inspired thousands of people in many different industries in almost every State in the USA and in seven different countries since he launched his training, speech coaching and professional speaking business in 1994.

He is among a small number of Toastmasters who have received accreditation by Toastmasters International for professional level speaking skills and outstanding contributions in public speaking. In 2005-2006 he served as International President of Toastmasters, with the theme, Find Your Voice, Serve Your World.

What an inspiring interview it was. It will be of great interest to anyone who has yearned to use their passion in business but isn't sure how to begin.

Here's a little background on the Power of Passion in Business.

I created this series to provide ideas and inspiration on how powerful and effective passion is when used as a value-sharing, business-building/sales and marketing element.

Passion is vital to entrepreneurs because most people in business have a hard time selling and promoting what they do in general. However, when passion is added to the mix, even the most introverted people will scream their offer from every roof top they can find.

The reason? They have to. The passion is so strong in their hearts that they have no other choice but to share it with others.

Listen to and enjoy this installment of the Power of Passion in Business featuring author and communications thought leader Dr. Dilip Abayasekara.
