Let’s agree that the word creative really means 'different'.
And that 'different' means different for you personally.
We are not looking for some outrageous thought that has never occurred to any one before. We only want thinking that is outside of your usual thought pattern. You will also notice that I used the word problems. YIKES; a lot of writing guides will tell you to use the work ‘challenge’ instead of problem.
Here’s my thinking on that.
When you are in the middle for the crap and it’s weight is bearing down on you, it’s a problem and not a challenge, without a doubt.
With that said, here’s a technique that will help find a 'creative' solution.
When you encounter a problem don’t jump in the middle of it. Stop and take a breath instead.
Experience how do you feel about the situation in front of you? Realize these feeling and embrace the problem as riddle or puzzle to solve. Keep breathing.
You’ll feel more relaxed and peaceful as you do this.
Next, think about what you would usually do to resolve this type of problem.
If that has worked before great, do it again.
Unfortunately, most of the time it didn’t and that’s why you're feeling anxious. You have a problem with no clear solution. You’ll need to evaluate your options. Ask yourself, "What can I do right now to solve this problem?"
Most of the time there are too many options. You feel overwhelmed by them all.
If this is the case, write down all of the solution options you can think of so you can get a good look at them.
Relax your mind by drawing pictures of the solution, write big, put a circle around an particular thought that feels good to you.Now review what you wrote down and notice how you feel in your heart and solar plexuses areas.
If you feel tightness in those areas you are not feeling good about that solution. Cross it off your list.
On the other hand, when you feel light and relaxed in those areas, you have found an answer that resonates with you. Put a BIG star by it.
Now all you have to do is forget about the ideas that you crossed off your list and focus on the ideas that you have a star by.
Pick the starred idea that brings you the most peace and lightness in your body and mind and implement it.
You’ll be amazed at how well your body will help you make good, creative decisions; if you will only you’ll listen and trust your inner brilliance.
